A. D. Players to Offer Strong 45th Season

Houston, TX: Artistic Director Jeannette Clift George today announced that A. D. Players' 45th MainStage season will focus on providing audiences the strong emotions created by unique characters and memorable situations.

A. D. Players' new season will open with humor: Faces, an original comedy by Jeannette Clift George, followed by the holiday comedy The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson. Switching to drama, the company will then offer the Tony award-winning play Foxfire, written by Susan Cooper and Hume Cronyn, and The Beams are Creaking by Douglas Anderson, the true life story of German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer. The company will close its 45th Season by returning to comedy with Charley's Aunt by Brandon Thomas.

"Our 45th season offers stories that will touch everyone," said George, commenting on the coming year. "Humor is universal, and these productions will be a joy for parents and grandparents...the whole family. The dramas touch upon themes of change, loss, and endurance, which at one time or another, we all face."

Opening the season on September 9, Faces is written and directed by Jeannette Clift George and comprised of three one-act stories, Faces In; Faces Out; and Faces Up & Down. The show promises hilarity with six actors portraying 41 characters in a variety of relatable life situations. For Christmas, the Herdmans will return to Grace Theater in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson, long an audience favorite.

In the new year, A. D. Players will proudly present the Tony award-winning play Foxfire by Susan Cooper and Hume Cronyn, which tells the story of Annie Nations, an elderly woman facing her past and future in the Appalatian mountains. Following in the spring, The Beams Are Creaking by Douglas Anderson, is the true life story of German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

Finally, capping off A. D. Players' 45th season, the classic comedy Charley's Aunt by Brandon Thomas returns to Grace Theater, a play that audiences have loved since its historic London run of 1,466 performances.

In addition to the regular season, subscribers will see Brackets by Jeannette Clift George playing Easter week at no additional cost, with tickets also available to the general public.
