PRESS RELEASE - Faces, a Comedy, Opens
A. D. Players' 45th Season September 9th
Houston, TX: A. D. Players will open their 45th season on September 9th with the comedy, Faces, written and directed by Founder and Artistic Director, Jeannette Clift George.
"I welcome you to a comedy about men and women who play many parts and share some of the secrets of being men and women," said George.
Laughter takes center stage as six actors portray forty-one characters in three one-act plays, Faces In, Faces Out, and Faces Up & Down. Relatable characters deal with life's ups and downs in one hilarious situation after another.
Faces In - Men talking to men. Barry has escaped his busy corporate life to a cabin in the mountains for some much needed peace and quiet, but instead he finds chaos as the phone rings off the hook and unexpected visitors (a mountain man and a run-away groom) disrupt his carefully laid plans.
Faces Out - What women talk about by themselves. The shared experience of applying make-up leads to discussion and discovery for three women in front of the mirror. Hopes, fears, heartaches, and joys are shared as times change, but the spirits and friendships of the women hold fast.
Faces Up & Down - The many parts men and women play in the comedy of life as seen and heard by the elevators they ride in.
The cast of Faces includes A. D. Players company members Marty Blair (An Inspector Calls, A Christmas of Many Parts, Winnie-the-Pooh) as Barry Callaway, Chip Simmons (Emma, Leaving Iowa, The Little Foxes) as Kent, Linford Herschberger (Parenthesis, Pinocchio and His Father, Alice Now!) as Wilson, and Patty Tuel Bailey (Emma, Parenthesis, Leaving Iowa) as Lottie. Guest artists include Jennifer Dean as Evelyn and Julie Fontenot as Pepper.
Faces design staff includes set, lighting, and sound design by Mark A. Lewis (Emma, An Inspector Calls, Driving Miss Daisy, The Little Foxes), properties design by Katharine Hatcher (Emma, An Inspector Calls, The Hobbit), and costume design by Patty Tuel Bailey (Parenthesis, A Christmas of Many Parts, Leaving Iowa).
