A.D. Players is currently accepting applications for our 2017-2018 Internship Program. Interns participate in many different aspects of theater, nurturing their artistic growth while honing the practical skills required for a theatrical career in performance as well as operations. This is an intensive and challenging position requiring a commitment to excellence and hard work. We are a fully participating Equity theater and EMC points will be offered.
We have two types of internships available:
Our Summer Performance Internship (2-4 interns) runs June 12 - August 27 only. Summer interns will be cast in our productions of Godspell running July 21 - August 20 in the Jeannette and L.M. George Theater, and culminating in performances at Houston's Miller Outdoor Theater August 25 and 26. Summer Performance Interns will work in various operations capacities during the day and rehearse and perform in the evening. Strong vocal skills and an on-site audition will be required for this position. Additionally, One Summer Technical Internship is available in our scene shop. Complimentary temporary housing will be provided for all summer interns.
Our Full Season Internship (3-6 interns) runs September 1, 2017 - August 31, 2018. These internships offer one of the well-rounded training experiences in our region as interns rotate through various operational roles every three months. Performing interns will also have the opportunity to audition for selected Mainstage, Children's Theater and Touring Company roles. Technical and administrative internships are available as well.
Many of our current production and resident acting company staff are former A.D. Players interns! Here's a sneak peek of what our current interns are saying:
I didn't expect to learn so much about Shakespeare in such a short time with the intern class afforded by Philip Lehl. He was absolutely incredible and approached Shakespeare from a great point of view I hadn't experienced before.
I didn't expect to develop such strong friendships. I've learned that a shared love for this craft can bring together people of all walks of life.
Theatrical marketing is an intricate system of teamwork, time and talent. It's an enigma - simple and complex; but I always find myself learning new things about the industry, promotions and the fun little things in between.
